Los Blaugranas matched a 38-year-old record against Leganés, while Los Blancos couldn't regain dominance over Atlético

Not all teams can benefit from any particular game in a weekend, and Barcelona surely had reasons to celebrate the 1-1 draw between Atlético and Real Madrid on Sunday.

Not only did Messi and Co. celebrate their 38-game streak without a loss this weekend, but they also saw their lead at the top of the table increase thanks to the end result of the Madrid derby.

Barcelona's win against Leganés brought their difference against Atlético to 11 points. If they can hold on to that difference, Valverde's side could claim the title with three or four weeks prior to the end of the season.

If that wasn't enough reason to celebrate, Valencia has leapfrogged Real Madrid at third place, leaving Zidane's men 15 points behind them in the Spanish top flight.

Lionel Messi also earned some headlines, as he recorded yet anoter hat-trick for Barcelona. The man is only surpassed by Cristiano Ronaldo in La Liga terms, but is closing in on a 50th game with three or more goals scored.

Speaking about La Liga's second-placed team, Los Colchoneros have thrived under Diego Simeone, and they have managed to dominate their neighbors at their very own ground for the fifth straight year in La Liga games.
