About Premier League

The English Premier League (EPL), officially called the Barclays Premier League after its current sponsor, the Barclays Bank, is England's top club league competition. The league in its current format was founded on February 20, 1992 and is composed of 20 teams that play 38 rounds to contest the title.

The bottom-placed three teams are relegated to the Football League Championship while three new clubs gain promotion. Brighton & Hove Albion, Huddersfield Town, and Newcastle United gained promotion for the 2017-18 English Premier League campaign, replacing relegated clubs Hull City, Middlesbrough, and Sunderland. The current champions are Chelsea who completed their title hunt by beating West Bromwich Albion away from home on May 12, 2017. Dethroned champions Leicester City, meanwhile, only finished 12th.

The 2017-18 EPL campaign runs from August 12, 2017 to May 13, 2018. The Premier League is in its 26th season. Manchester United is the most successful club with 13 titles to its name. Alongside its star-studded line-up of coaches such as Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho, and Antonio Conte, the on-going EPL season also boasts the presence of World Football's most expensive signing ever, £89M-rated midfielder Paul Pogba.

Did you know? Arsenal's Arsene Wenger is the longest serving manager among the current coaches in the EPL. He was appointed on October 1, 1996.
