Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates have both been left on the bench for Uruguay's World Cup 2014 opening match against Costa Rica.

The reigning Copa America champions flopped at the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil but they are confident of putting up a much better show at the World Cup. Uruguay are in Group D with European heavyweights Italy and England. Kicking off the campaign against the table's weakest team, Costa Rica, could prove tricky.

Uruguay are poised to cruise to victory like fellow South Americans Colombia did against Greece. Los Cafeteros defeated their opponents 3-0 on Saturday afternoon without injured Radamel Falcao. Likewise, La Celeste Olimpica will be without Liverpool forward Luis Suarez but at least, he has made the bench.

He will be cheering his team mates from the dugout while CONCACAF's Costa Rica will try to create an upset before football fans turn their attention to the biggest match of the day, England vs Italy.

Here are the line-ups:

Costa Rica's XI: Navas; Gamboa, Giancarlo Gonzalez, Óscar Duarte, Umaña, Junior Diaz; Bolaños, Borges, Tejeda, Bryan Ruiz; Joel Campbell.

Uruguay's XI: Muslera, Lugano, Godin, Gargano, Rodriguez, Forlan, Stuani, Pereira, Arevalo, Cavani, Caceres
