The duo were at it once more as Les Parisiens stretched their lead further with another big win.

The French Ligue 1 is gradually approaching its business end and this weekend another outlook to the table emerged. Leaders Paris Saint-Germain were able to dust themselves from the shock 3-1 defeat suffered at the hands of Nantes to beat Saint-Etienne by the same scoreline. However, the capital club were made to work for it with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi stepping up to overturn a goal deficit. The latter assisted the former for all of his two goals before Danilo Pereira got the third to secure the win.

Elsewhere, reigning champions Lille won 1-0 in their visit to Lyon. The home side were the dominant side throughout the game and had the best chances falling their way, but all their hard work was undone by a mistake by one of their defenders which led to the game's only goal. Later on, they thought they had snatched a point only for Lucas Paquetá late equaliser to be chalked off by VAR.

Second and third-placed Olympique Marseille and Nice dropped points with respective 0-0 draws at Troyes and Strasbourg. Meanwhile, Rennes benefited from the pair's situation by securing a 4-2 away to Montpellier. With competition for European qualification places hotting up, the bottom half also presented an interesting outlook. Bordeaux, Saint-Etienne, Metz and Troyes are all stuck on 22 points but failed to make considerable gains this weekend. All but Saint Etienne was able to pick up at least a point in their respective outings.
