The sacking of Roberto Di Matteo and the arrival of Rafael Benitez at Chelsea has shaken the course of the current league season in England. The highlight of the weekend will happen at Stamford Bridge as the Blues will host champions Manchester City. The latter got knocked out of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday and it will not be easy for them to mentally recover. One thing will be on their mind: to beat Chelsea and maintain the top spot in the English Premier League.
The Citizens may temporarily be leapfrogged by Manchester United. Victory at home to QPR would put the Red Devils two points ahead of Man City on Saturday. Fifth-placed West Bromwich Albion claimed three vital points against Chelsea last weekend. They will open Matchday 13 with a lunchtime fixture away to Sunderland. Everton and Arsenal will be looking to keep pace with the Baggies a few hours later.
Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have been scheduled to play on Sunday. Their games will also receive a lot of attention despite the hype surrounding Chelsea and Manchester City’s battle at the Bridge.
