Broadcast Rights

Competitions available on ESPN3 USA

ESPN has secured exclusive LaLiga broadcast rights in the United States from 2021 to 2029. The pay-TV provider, which the Walt Disney Corporation owns, has an eight-year contract with the Spanish Primera División that is worth an estimated $1.4 billion (or $175 million per year), making it among the most expensive contracts for a US-based corporation for a non-American sporting league.
ESPN has secured linear and digital Bundesliga rights in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands from 2020 to 2026 following a six-year deal worth approximately $30 million per season. The commercial broadcaster, which is owned by the Walt Disney Corporation, took over from previous rights holder Fox in late 2019 to begin carrying matches on its linear and digital platforms at the start of the 2020-21 campaign.
In the United States, users can watch live German Cup games on ESPN, with the premium broadcaster owning the exclusive rights to the competition until the end of the 2025-26 season. A minimum of 40 German Cup matches each season are shown live via ESPN’s extensive network of channels, but the majority are shown on ESPN+, their over-the-top streaming platform, which can be accessed via a web browser and an app.

A minimum of 40 German Cup matches each season are shown live via ESPN’s extensive network of channels, but the majority are shown on ESPN+, their over-the-top streaming platform, which can be accessed via a web browser and an app.

Typically, ESPN picks the biggest games from the tournament, including those featuring Bayern Munich, but both semi-finals and the final are shown regardless of which teams are involved. Fans must have an active subscription with ESPN to access these live games.

German Cup highlights, game clips, and interviews are also available on ESPN+. All content is shown live in English, but some matches are also available in Spanish.
Women’s soccer fans in the United States can watch live WSL games on ESPN, thanks to a broadcast rights extension covering the 2025-26 Women’s Super League season. As a result, U.S. viewers can watch both live and on-demand Women’s Super League games on ESPN. This includes both its linear and streaming platforms, such as ESPN2, the ESPN app, or via ESPN Select, with select fixtures also available on the Spanish-language network ESPN Deportes.

While ESPN’s linear networks, such as ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes, are available through third-party cable, satellite, and streaming providers, this availability is subject to change. A subscription to a partnered TV provider should also grant viewers access to live sports on the ESPN app.

Stateside fans can also purchase an ESPN Select subscription to stream live WSL matches. This can be done on the Disney+ streaming service, although ESPN Select may be bundled with the platform’s other offerings.

Subscribers have the option of streaming the Women’s Super League on the Disney+ website, the Disney+ app, or the ESPN app via a supported internet-connected device. This includes smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, streaming devices, gaming consoles, and more.
ESPN has extended its ownership of the American Athletic Conference's global media rights in a 12-year deal from the 2020-21 season. Under the deal, ESPN may broadcast live college soccer matches on its linear TV networks, as well as on its OTT service ESPN+ in USA. Live match coverage will also be made available on the ESPN App online and on mobile devices.
ESPN platforms are carrying more than 1,980 women's college soccer matches in the 2025 season. Over 1,750 games stream live on ESPN+ from more than 22 conferences, including more than 100 conference tournament fixtures. A further 64 regular-season matches are televised on ESPNU, SEC Network, and ACC Network.

Commentary teams are confirmed, with Jenn Hildreth and Lori Lindsey assigned to ACC broadcasts, while Mike Watts and Jill Loyden call SEC matches. Other coverage is handled by Alex Perlman, Glenn Davis, Jonathan Yardley, Marion Crowder, and Kacey White.

About

ESPN3 USA history, coverage, features

ESPN 3 is a streaming service owned by ESPN that launched in 2005. Upon launching, it was called ESPN360, before it changed its name to ESPN3.COM in 2010. In 2011, it dropped the .com and became known as ESPN3.

ESPN3 has always been available to users in the USA who have ESPN-affiliated cable television at no extra cost. The platform was rolled out to US college students and US-based military personnel in 2008.

In previous years, ESPN3 has shown live coverage of international football matches, college games, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup. However, since the launch of ESPN+ in 2018, a lot of content has moved over.

In more recent times, the platform has offered fans different camera angles of football matches shown on ESPN's linear TV channels and alternative commentary. Sports events shown on ABC are also streamed simultaneously on ESPN3.

ESPN3 is available through the ESPN app, which can be downloaded for free onto iOS and Android devices.
