Get your printable guide – Spanish La Liga Matchday 18
After the winter break, Spanish Primera Division resumes with 10 fixtures split over a four-day period. It all begins this Friday with fifth-placed Real Betis hoping to beat Zaragoza and close in on Malaga.
On Saturday, the latter will be away to rock-bottom side Deportivo La Coruna. In three other centres across the country, Levante, Granada and Sevilla will play hosts to Athletic Bilbao, Valencia and Osasuna.
The top three teams – Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid – only play on January 6 after Celta de Vigo opens the action with a home game against Real Valladolid scheduled for 6:00am EST.
Barca successfully protected their unbeaten record before the winter break. They are poised to claim their 17th victory against local rivals Espanyol on Sunday. Meanwhile, the eyes of critics will be at the Santiago Bernabeu as Jose Mourinho is under immense pressure to kick off 2013 on a high after dropping 18 points in the Spanish La Liga already.
