Manchester United visit the Dean Court to face FC Bournemouth in a crucial encounter that could pile more pressure on Luis Van Gaal if he fails to collect maximum points.

The Red Devils come into this fixture with major injury concerns, something that could affect their performance. Almost nine of the first team players are missing due to injury problems and Luis Van Gaal is expected to ask for backup from the reserve team.

The Dutch tactician is under pressure to inspire his boys to collect maximum points after the disappointing draw with West Ham last weekend. Had they won the match against the Hammers, the Red Devils would ascend to the top of the Premier League but that was not meant to be. Things got even worse in Germany when United faced Wolfsburg on Tuesday for their Champions League fixture. Although they scored an unusual goal, they were bundled out by the Germans and now have to compete in the Europa League.

The pain of quitting the Champions League at the group stages, something that Man United fans were not used to in the past decade, could increase if Van Gaal fails to beat lowly-ranked Bournemouth away from home.

However, Bournemouth cannot be underrated in this fixture. They beat Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge last weekend, consequently sending them just two points off the relegation zone. Their courage to dismiss the Blues away from home should give the Red Devils enough reason to worry since The Cherries will be playing at home this time round at the 11,464 capacity stadium.

Team news

AFC Bournemouth

Despite developing a knee problem, Artur Boruc is expected to start between the posts for the home team. Both Marc Pugh and Adama Federici are set to return for Boscombe to face Man United. Additionally, Lee Tomlin and Christian Atsu have both resumed training but are unlikely to feature in this fixture.

Manchester United

The away side come into this fixture without nine of their regular starters due to injury concerns. Chris Smalling and Matteo Darmian both picked up injuries in their midweek encounter with German outfit Wolfsburg in the Champions League. Bastian Schweinsteiger is facing a three match ban for elbowing West Ham's Winston Reid but he could be replaced by Morgan Schneiderlin in the midfield. Both Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia, Wayne Rooney, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera and Phile Jones will miss the fixture due to injuries.

A frustrated Winston Reid of West Ham confronts Manchester United's Bastian Schweinsteiger over the elbowing incident last weekend. The Germany international has been handed a three-match suspension by the FA.
