Denmark is preparing for the upcoming World Cup, and while they failed to qualify for the 2014 edition, they will be hoping to leave their mark in Russia. Grouped with France, Australia, and Peru; making the knockout stage is achievable but will not be a walk in the park.
De Rød-Hvide will be keen on exceeding their 1998 campaign in which they reached the quarter-final, their best ever finish. For that to happen, a number of their key players will have to be at their best. Here's everything you need to know about Denmark's squad.
Age Hareide, the man who has spent his entire 33-year career in Scandinavia, is the man in charge of Denmark. His appointment wasn't initially met with optimism, but he has guided the nation to a World Cup qualification. Next on his to-do list will be making the round of 16.
That's Christian Eriksen, of course. Even Hareide admits that his tactics revolve around the Tottenham star, which has worked well so far. The playmaker scored 11 goals in the qualifying campaign, a record bested by only Cristiano and Lewandowski.
Alongside Eriksen, Simon Kjaer will be relied on for the tournament. The captain and center-back will look to protect Kaspar Schmeichel, an already capable figure, in goal.
Goalkeepers: Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester), Frederik Ronnow (Brondby), Jonas Lossl (Huddersfield).
Defenders: Simon Kjaer (Sevilla), Mathias Jorgensen (Huddersfield), Andreas Christensen (Chelsea), Henrik Dalsgaard (Brentford), Jannik Vestergaard (Borussia Monchengladbach), Jens Stryger Larsen (Udinese), Jonas Knudsen (Ipswich).
Midfielders: Christian Eriksen (Tottenham), Lasse Schone (Ajax), Lukas Lerager (Bordeaux), Michael Krohn-Dehli (Deportivo La Coruna), Thomas Delaney (Werder Bremen), William Kvist (FC Copenhagen), Pione Sisto (Celta Vigo).
Forwards: Andreas Cornelius (Atalanta), Kasper Dolberg (Ajax), Martin Braithwaite (Bordeaux), Nicolai Jorgensen (Feyenoord), Viktor Fischer (FC Copenhagen), Yussuf Poulsen (RB Leipzig).
