Seattle Sounders FC and the Columbus Crew will clash on Saturday with both teams deeply involved in the playoff race.
Seattle are second in the West trailing the Los Angeles Galaxy by six points, while Columbus are leading the Eastern Conference.

Another battle of fellow playoff contenders will see Sporting Kansas City (2nd in the East) clash with FC Dallas (3rd in the West).

The Houston Dynamo are third in the Eastern Conference, and will travel West to face struggling Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

The Colorado Rapids and Real Salt Lake currently occupy wildcard playoff spots, and will be in action at the Chicago Fire and Chivas USA respectively.

D.C. United’s home game against the Portland Timbers has been rescheduled due to the impending threat of Hurricane Irene.
 

The Portland Timbers and Chivas USA will clash at JELD-WEN Field on Wednesday night with the eyes of both teams fixed firmly on the playoffs.





Chivas are one point behind the wildcard playoff spots, while the Timbers are only two points further back.





Portland beat Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2-1 last time out, while Chivas came from behind to draw 2-2 at the Colorado Rapids.





Diego Chara and Jack Jewsbury will play and are both important figures for the Timbers. Designated player Chara scored his first MLS goal in the win over Vancouver, while Jewsbury has tallied either a goal or an assist in each of his last three games.





Kevin Goldthwaite, Eddie Johnson and Spencer Thompson are all ruled out with injury.





Juan Pablo Angel will lead the attack for Chivas after scoring in his debut at Colorado. Fellow striker Justin Braun is ruled out with an abdominal strain for the Goats.

Both clubs will be desperate for a win to revive their fading playoff hopes. San Jose are seven points behind the final wildcard spot, while Toronto are two points further back.





Leandre Griffit, Eric Avila and Danny Koevermans are all injury doubts for Toronto and will be assessed ahead of kickoff.





Andre Luiz and Ike Opara are sidelined with injury for San Jose, while Alan Gordon and Steven Lenhart are also ruled out.


The struggling Vancouver Whitecaps will play host to Eastern playoff contending Houston Dynamo.





The Whitecaps are at the foot of the Western Conference table after winning only one of their last 10 games. Houston are occupying the third playoff spot in the East and are currently riding a five game unbeaten streak.





Vancouver will be without in-form forward Camilo due to suspension, while Atiba Harris, Russell Teibert and Brian Sylvestre are out injured.





Brad Davis will feature in the Houston midfield, and has recorded four assists in his last five games. Will Bruin and Danny Cruz are injury doubts for the Dynamo and will be assessed ahead of kickoff.


The Colorado Rapids will be looking to extend a six game unbeaten streak when they travel to face the Chicago Fire on Saturday.





The Rapids currently occupy the top wildcard seed, and are only two points behind FC dallas in the race for the automatic Western playoff spots.





Chicago snapped a 10 game winless streak, with a 2-0 win over Toronto FC. The Fire need a win to close the eight point gap between themselves and the playoff spots.





Steven Kinney and Marko Maric are ruled out for the Fire with groin and ankle injuries respectively.





Conor Casey and Anthony Wallace are ruled out for the Rapids, while Jamie Smith is an injury doubt.


Sporting Kansas City and FC Dallas will go head to head with both teams deeply entrenched in the playoff race.





Sporting are second in the East and trail leaders Columbus by four points, while Dallas are third in the West and eight points behind the conference leading Los Angeles Galaxy.





Daneil Cyrus and Craig Rocastle are sidelined with injury for Sporting, while Luke Sassano and Konrad Warzycha are also ruled out. Davy Arnaud and Jeferson are injury doubts for Sporting and will be assessed ahead of kickoff.





In-form striker Kei Kamara will lead the KC attack, and has scored four goals in his last six games.





David Ferreira, Edson Edward and Maykel Galindo are ruled out with injury for Dallas. Zach Loyd is doubtful with a hamstring strain, while Daniel Cruz is suspended.


Real Salt Lake will be looking to avoid a third straight defeat when they travel to face Chivas USA on Saturday night.





Salt Lake currently occupy the one of the wildcard playoff spots, while Chivas are only one point behind the New York Red Bulls in the race for the final spot.





Juan Pablo Angel is expected to return to the Chivas attack, while Zarek Valentin is out injured.





Javier Morales and Chris Wingert are ruled out for Salt Lake, while a lengthy list of injury doubts includes Ned Grabavoy, Arturo Alvarez and Fabian Espindola. Jamison Olave and Nick Rimando are also struggling with injury and will be assessed ahead of kickoff.
