About CR Flamengo
| Founded | 1895 |
| Stadium | Estadio Jornalista Mário Filho (Maracanã) |
| Capacity | 78,838 |
| Manager | Leonardo Jardim |
The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, or simply Flamengo, is a Brazilian football team from Rio de Janeiro. The club was founded in 1895, which makes it the oldest club from that country with the same name and that has never merged with another side. The club is known by its fans as the Rubro-Negro or simply as Fla, and they play their home games at the legendary Maracaná Stadium, which has a seating capacity of over 78,838 seats.
Flamengo is one most successful and competitive teams in Brazil, having won titles in the Brazilian Serie A, the Copa do Brasil, the Brazilian Super Cup, and other domestic competitions. In the international arena, Flamengo has enjoyed success in the Copa Libertadores and the Recopa Sudamericana.
The red and black club has fierce rivalries with other Brazilian clubs for different reasons. Perhaps the most famous of those is the one they share with Fluminense, one of the classic games in Brazilian football that had its first match back in 1911. Another big rival for the Rubro-Negro is Vasco Da Gama, as both teams have the largest fan bases in Rio de Janeiro. Other major foes for Flamengo include Botafogo, Palmeiras, and Atlético Mineiro.
This Brazilian club is not owned by a major company, and their associates (carrying card members) decide their team’s fate. Elections are held every three years to choose a new president, although all active presidents can present for reelection twice. All presidents come in with a new board. The club has an online streaming platform known as Fla TV. The service offers video highlights for all the team’s categories, news, interviews, documentaries, and other content.
