I was born and raised in Tampico, Mexico 26 years ago. It's hard to find someone in this country that does not follow soccer and I am not the case. Ever since I was a kid I enjoyed playing with friends either at school, at the beach, in the park or in the streets.
The sport did not pay for my college scholarships but it did help me know what I wanted to study. Seeing reporters at field-level or commentators getting you excited about games is something I keep dreaming about doing. All those hours watching soccer games on TV made me realize I wanted to become a sports journalist. Attending to watch some games live did not hurt my dreams.
My favorite team in the "Liga MX" is America. The most loved and hated team in the country that recently won its 12th league title. But the man that made me love the sport is from France and his name is Zinedine Zidane. The french midfielder had the skill, class, agility and leadership a great footballer must have, plus a World Cup title. Watching him play with either France or "Los Galácticos" in Real Madrid was always a treat. Lately I've admired the development of the M.L.S. and how it's getting so popular in a country known for baseball, basketball and football. I can never ignore the Champions League.
Whenever I am not focusing on soccer I like to run. I am currently training for my seventh marathon. With all the miles I have to log for training my stomach allows me to eat a lot. I like traditional italian food, mexican food and seafood. Among other occupations I am a freelance video journalist, keeping up with sports around the globe and being an awesome brother, son and friend.
