Serie A - Matchday 32 overview

It goes without saying that both Inter and AC Milan will be keen on getting all three points in Saturday's Derby della Madonnina tie. The Nerazzurri in particular will be desperate to get back on track after suffering back-to-back losses that have seen their European ambitions take a major hit. The shock defeat to debutants Crotone will have rocked Stefano Pioli's side, and arguably that was the biggest upset of matchday 31.

Speaking of Crotone, the Squali have now won two games in a row for the first time in their young Serie A history. They travel to face Torino, and the Granata will certainly not be taking their visitors lightly after seeing how they managed to beat Inter. Meanwhile, the Rossoneri come into this Derby after crushing Palermo 4-0, which marked the first time in years they have beaten an opponent by more than four goals.

Of course, the Nerazzurri will represent a much tougher foe than the relegation-set Rosanero, and given that the first meeting ended as a 2-2 draw, fans could be in for a real treat. As things stand, both Milan and Inter are behind Atalanta, who face Roma. If the Rossoneri, who sit in sixth, win, they could overtake La Dea, whilst a victory for the Nerazzurri would see them just one point Gian Piero Gasperini's hard-working side. That is, provided that La Dea do not manage to beat the Giallorossi, which given Roma's strong home record, will be much easier said than done.

Fresh off their hard-fought 3-0 win over Barcelona, Juventus will have to turn their attention back to domestic affairs as they take on bottom-placed Pescara. Interestingly enough, Barcelona again get to play the second leg at Camp Nou, and as fans have seen, the Blaugrana truly do have a home pitch advantage. With that in mind, Massimiliano Allegri will likely rotate his squad in order to keep all key personnel fit for the return fixture next week, as they are 90 minutes away from a coveted spot in the semi-finals.

Other notable fixtures include Fiorentina taking on Empoli, Lazio traveling to face Genoa, and Napoli-Udinese to wrap up matchday 32.
