Whilst matchday 23 saw lots of goals, matchday 24 was not as prolific. But that does not mean it was not an interesting round of fixtures for calcio fans around the world. Records - both positive and negative - were set or matched and several personal milestones were achieved. Round 24 is not over just yet, as Lazio vs. AC Milan will take place later today, but there were still plenty of talking points.
Let's have a look at the five most salient facts and stats from this past round.
1. AC Milan have trouble keeping cool heads
The Rossoneri may have won their fixture against Bologna to end a three game losing streak, but it was far from an assured performance. Vincenzo Montella's side made things tougher for themselves by failing to remain disciplined and ended up finishing the match with nine men.
Discipline is something that Milan really need to work on. Big time.
31 - No Big 5 European leagues team have picked up more red cards than AC Milan (31) since July 2013. Nervous. #BolognaMilan

And defender Gabriel Palletta is a prime offender:

However, there is a silver lining perhaps to their much needed win:
9 - AC Milan are the 1st side to win a Serie A game after having 2 players sent off since Opta began recording this data (94-95). Character. pic.twitter.com/6bxXQzIbhM

2. Roma make history
It was bound to happen at some point, and even more impressive is the fact that Roma achieved this huge milestone against a big side like Fiorentina. The Giallorossi utterly humiliated the Viola en route to making sure they remained in second spot, and with 14 wins, now have re-written history:

3. Juventus's bunker is the strongest of all...
With defenders like Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci, and Andrea Barzagli, as well as the evergreen Gianluigi Buffon between the posts, it is no surprise the Bianconeri boast the strongest defense in Serie A.
But did you know that they even top others across Europe? That's right. Since the start of the New Year, Juventus have kept six clean sheets from seven matches across all comps. Meanwhile, here is how the others stack up:

4. ...meanwhile Gonzalo Higuain keeps on firing in the goals
Higuain simply can't stop scoring, and that's great for Juventus. The Serie A record signing has truly found his shooting boots and is in contention to clinch back-to-back Capocannoniere titles, as he added to his rapidly growing total against Cagliari on Sunday.
Here's something that may surprise most:
8 - Gonzalo Higuaín has scored 8 goals in 2017: more than any other player over the top-5 European leagues. Verdict. #CagliariJuventus pic.twitter.com/KjOpq0cete

Yes, that is correct. No other player - not Lionel Messi, Diego Costa, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, or Edinson Cavani - has netted more since the start of this year.
5. Roma may want to have someone else take their spot-kicks
Dzeko may have no problems scoring...except when it comes from the spot! The ex-Manchester City man would have had a brace against Crotone, if he had converted. However, this stat doesn't work in his favor next time he lines up to take a penalty:
2 - No player has missed more penalties than Edin Dzeko in Serie A this season (2). Panic. #CrotoneRoma

And here's a couple of random facts:
5 - Torino are alongside with Napoli one of the two Serie A teams to have found 5+ goals in three different matches this term. Drums.

11 - Pescara have conceded 11 goals in the last two Serie A games: the last team to do this was Livorno in 2005 (12 goals). Lost.

How the race for the Capocannoniere is shaping up...
Dzeko and Higuain have pulled away slightly, but Torino's Andrea Belotti is still very much in the running for the top scorer prize, as are Napoli's Dries Mertens and Inter's Mauro Icardi:

Here is who are leading the way in terms of setting up goals:
