Robin Van Persie’s Fenerbahce travels to Amsterdam to face their Europa League opponents Ajax who boast of an impressive record against Turkish clubs.

However, despite their good record, Ajax are still winless in their UEFA Europa League campaign this season. The Dutch side have only managed to secure two points out of a possible nine after three matches. They sit at the third spot in Group A, while their opponents are above them with four points at the second position.

On match day three when the two sides met, Fernandao scored a late winner to hand the Yellow Canaries a 1-0 win over Ajax in Istanbul. This was the first defeat for the Dutch side against Turkish clubs. The last time the two sides meet was back in the 1968/1969 European Champions Clubs’ Cup season. Fenerbahce won the match 2-0.

Fernandao could provide more attacking options for Fenerbahce as they travel to Amsterdam on Thursday

Fenandao celebrates his previous goal for Fenerbahce

Even though The Lancer's winning run against Turkish clubs came to a screeching halt with the defeat in Istanbul, they will still rely on the fact that they have won four of their previous home fixtures against Super Lig clubs by an average score of 11-1. Fenerbahce last 17 games consists of five wins, three draws and nine loses. Away from home, they have won one, drawn two and lost five.
