About
Idman TV history, coverage, features
Idman Azerbaijan TV, or simply known as Idman TV, is a television channel owned and operated by the Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting Closed Joint-stock Company, a branch of the Government of Azerbaijan. The channel was officially launched on January 1, 2009, but unsuccessful tests forced the channel to be available until February 1, 2009. The channel initially aired content for 15 hours, but it now serves sports fans 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Over the years, Idman TV has made a name for itself with its sports broadcasts, which have covered some of the top competitions in different disciplines every year. Some of the sports covered on this channel have included football, volleyball, wrestling, judo, indoor soccer, athletics, basketball, Formula 1 racing, and boxing events.
Speaking about football, Idman TV has offered coverage of the Azerbaijan Premier League and the Azerbaijan Cup, the two most relevant tournaments in the country. Furthermore, the channel has also aired leagues from other countries, including La Liga, the English Premier League, the Italian Serie A, and the Ukrainian Premier League. Cup tournaments such as the FA Community Shield and the Copa del Rey have also been aired on this channel. Last, but not least, games for the UEFA Super Cup and the UEFA Champions League have also been available to watch on this network.
Idman TV has been available since its launch in Standard Definition, but a High-Definition feed was developed and aired on November 6, 2015. The channel has also been available to watch in countries like Armenia or Turkey, although some of the broadcasting rights owned by this channel may not be available in those regions.
