Bayern Munich will make a trip to Czech Republic on Tuesday, the 5th of November 2013 to face Viktoria Plzen at the Štruncovy Sady stadium in a Champions League encounter.

Bayern will play away to Plzen with Champions League Last 16 qualification in sight.Preview: Bayern to secure qualification with a win over Czech side

The Bavarians will make a huge step in sealing qualification to the Round of 16 if they manage to win their next match against Viktoria Plzen. The German outfit are six points clear of third placed CSKA Moscow and can stretch the difference even further if Manchester City deny the Russian side of any points on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola will be looking for a better performance from his side after being put to test by ninth placed Hoffenheim in their last league outing. 18 year old Niklas Sule opened the scoring for the hosts, before a Franck Ribery free kick equalised the scores.

Thomas Muller grabbed the winner with 75 minutes on the clock and even though Bayern went home with all three points Pep Guardiola was unconvinced by the performance put up by his team.

"It certainly wasn't our best performance, but we've won at least," he said according to SkySports.

"Not everything worked perfectly so we're going to have to change the way we play.

"Games against Hoffenheim have always been tight in recent years, but we had that bit of luck."

Nevertheless Die Roten are now undefeated in their last 36 league outings and in doing so the German giants have equalled a Bundesliga record of most matches played without a loss. Last time the Bavarians lost a league match was back in October last year when Bayer Leverkusen defeated them 2-1.

Ballon d’or nominee Franck Ribéry has been instrumental towards Bayern’s recent success. The French international has either assisted or scored in each of the last seven matches he has played for his club. Last time Bayern met the Czech side in the reverse fixture, the 30 year old scored twice as the Bavarians ran rampant defeating Viktoria Plzen 5-0.

Guardiola’s side will be boosted by the potential returns of Arjen Robben and toni Kroos both of whom missed Saturday’s 2-1 win over Hoffenheim. Whereas Javi Martinez after a lengthy spell on the sidelines has also returned and will provide Guardiola more options in the middle of the park.

Dante who has also made his return in the match against Hoffenheim is a doubt having been deemed as not full fit whereas Xherdan Shaqiri and Claudio Pizarro (thigh), Thiago Alcantara (ankle) and Holger Badstuber (knee) are all unavailable.

Plzen who are competing in the tournament for the only the second time are on the verge of being thrown out of the tournament after three defeats in as many matches. The Czech side have conceded 11 goals so far in the competitions and have only scored in one match, the 3-2 defeat at the hands of CSKA Moscow.

Viktorka’s attacking threat will come in the shape of Tomas Wagner who is his team’s top scorer with eight goals in all competitions. Whereas the Bayern defence will also have to be wary of Daniel Kolar and Stanislav Tecl both of whom have scored six goals each.

Pavel Vrba will have no major injury concerns ahead of the big match against Bayern and will be able to recall the services of David Limbersky who is expected to be reinstated in his left back position after recovering from a thigh injury.
