With the USMNT now at the top, teams fighting for the three-and-a-half spots will want to close 2021 with not too many worries ahead of the final six games.

The second half of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers has arrived, and if things do not change their current course, we could be in for quite a few surprises for the last seven games for each national team.

As of now, all three teams from North America would need to book their tickets to play in Qatar, but things might still change if Panama step things up a bit. On the lower half of the table, former favorites Costa Rica and Jamaica will try to give their all to change their fate, while El Salvador and Honduras seem to be destined to a sad end of the qualifiers, where trying not to finish last among the eight teams would be their only consolation.

Before we go deeper into the games, let's have a look at how the standings look like after the games played on Friday, November 12.

Without further ado, here are Tuesday's fixtures.

Jamaica vs USA

The Reggae Boyz have not lived up to the hype created around them, and missing out on the World Cup with so many players currently enrolled in Premier League teams in the squad may cause a bit of chaos within the Jamaican Federation. Luckily for them, the team still has a fighting chance of making the top four teams, but they must defeat the USMNT to kick start their recovery. That might be easier said than done, as the Stars and Stripes will get to this match on a high following their 2-0 win over Mexico. Gregg Berhalter's team are top of the group, and while their spot in the World Cup seems like a lock, the team will not want to lay back in order to avoid any surprises just like the ones that left them out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Panama vs El Salvador

Panama are only two points away from the top three teams in CONCACAF's race to play in the World Cup, and a win at home would surely come in handy for Thomas Christiansen's men. Los Canaleros claimed a come-from-behind win against Honduras on Matchday 7, which has given them a five-point lead over their nearest rivals in the race for fourth. On the other hand, El Salvador are one of three teams with six points up to this point in the competition, and if they want to return to a World Cup after a 40-year absence, then they will need to pick up a shocking win at Rommel Fernández Stadium to boost their options.

Costa Rica vs Honduras

Neither one of these squads has been able to make an impact in the ongoing qualifiers, and right now, their chances of making the top four seem rather slim. Los Ticos seem to have the better chance of turning their fortunes around, as they make it to the second half of the qualifiers in fifth place. Los Ticos have only won one of their three home games, and winning one more here would certainly come as a blessing for Luis Fernando Suárez's team. On the other hand, Honduras seem destined to finish the qualifiers in last place, since they only have collected three points and no wins after seven games. Losing against Panama after dominating for over 75 minutes could be the final nail on the coffin of a not so successful generation of players that will still need to make an effort to win games before the qualifiers come to a conclusion under newly-appointed boss Hernán Darío Gómez.

Canada vs Mexico

Canada and Mexico will put an end to the international action in CONCACAF when they lock horns in Edmonton on Tuesday evening, in a game that could see Mexico falling to third place after dominating the first six matchdays of the qualifiers. Canada have won three of their four matches at home, while Mexico recently lost their unbeaten status away from home against the USMNT. It will be a game where Mexico's drive and strengths will be put to test by a competitive Canadian squad that has only conceded twice in four games at home. The reverse fixture between these sides in the ongoing qualifiers saw the Canucks claiming an away point at Estadio Azteca, which makes us wonder what kind of performance they will be able to put up this time around.
