There will be lots to talk about in the North American region once the Qualifying games kick off this Friday. Follow each clash with our detailed guide.

The end of the first half of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers is upon us, and what better way to reach the halfway point of the competition than witnessing the games that are set to take place on Matchday seven.

The battle for the three and a half spots to play in the World Cup next year has been dominated by the teams from North America, but the national teams coming from Central America or the Caribbean do not seem ready to go down quietly into the night, which could deliver some interesting games to end the week with.

Before we go deeper into the games, let's have a look at how the standings look like prior to matchday 7.

Without further ado, here are Friday's fixtures.

Honduras vs Panama

Los Catrachos are the only team in the Qualifiers without a win after six games, and going one more match without a victory would be devastating to their chances. Now, with seasoned coach Hernán Darío Gómez at the helm, La Bicolor will try to win their first match of the tournament against the fourth-placed Panama, who will enter this game after a heavy 4-1 defeat against Canada. Los Canaleros are two points behind Canada in the race for the last direct spot in the World Cup and two points ahead of Costa Rica in their attempt to keep the playoff spot, which makes this game even more crucial for both sides.

Canada vs Costa Rica

The Canucks seem to be closer than ever from nabbing a World Cup berth, and one of their major assets has been the kind of football they have played at home. With that in mind, John Herdman's men will host the first of two games in the ongoing International Break against Costa Rica, a team that has not been able to win any of their three away games in these Qualifiers. Winning this game is crucial for Los Ticos if they want to make it to Qatar, but judging by how their recent away games have ended up, it would not be a surprise to see Luis Fernando Suárez's men dropping the ball in the clash set to be played in Edmonton.

El Salvador vs Jamaica

The home side suffered a heart-breaking loss against Mexico in their previous home game, but the team coached by Hugo Pérez seems to have what it takes to beat the up and coming Jamaican side, who seem to have had some issues figuring out how to play under Theodore Whitmore. Right now, both teams are three points behind Panama in the race to finish fourth, which may mean that we could have quite an open game from both sides in their quest for a World Cup spot.

USA vs Mexico

The eternal rivalry between Mexico and the USMNT will add one more chapter not only to their all-time rivalry, but also to the heated exchange between these sides in 2021. This will be the third game between the Yanks and El Tri this year, and Mexico will be eager to get some payback against Gregg Berhalter's men following two straight losses. Both sides will be looking quite differently from what they displayed in their previous outing, with the hosts set to have Christian Pulisic around even if he is limited to a substitute role. As for Mexico, the return of stellar striker Raúl Jiménez should give Berhalter and his staff something to think about prior to the game's kickoff at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati.
