After one game for each team, the ground is open for surprises as the ones we saw in the first batch of games. Here's your guide for Sunday's matches in the CONCACAF Qualifiers for Qatar 2022.

The Final Round of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers is already underway, and as expected, most initial games had teams trying to be cautious before getting themselves in trouble too early in the qualifying process to next year's World Cup.

There were very few goals scored during Matchday 1, but it could be expected given the short amount of time all coaches had to prepare their games with a full squad. Now, with more time to prepare Sunday's games, we can expect a better performance from most teams.

Before we go deeper into the games, let's have a look at how the standings look like after matchday 1.

Now, have a look at this weekend's fixtures.

Jamaica vs Panama

The Reggae Boyz did not have the best start of the qualifiers last Thursday, but something tells us that things will vastly improve for Theodore Whitmore's team. After having to play their game against Mexico without 12 players, the yellow and black side will now have their Premier League and Championship players at their disposal, which means that they will have a lot of firepower for their first clash at home and to try to win their first game of the tournament. On the other side, Panama claimed a goalless draw last time out against Costa Rica at home, which may hint that they will not go all in at Independence Park this Sunday and might try to settle for a new draw here.

Costa Rica vs Mexico

Los Ticos and El Tri share a vast history of games against each other, but despite their home-field advantage, Costa Rica should not be considered as favorites to win this game. Los Ticos are just getting the grip on Luis Fernando Suárez's tactics, which saw them shoot four times against Panama last Thursday (none of them on goal). Meanwhile, Mexico struggled to beat Jamaica at an empty Azteca Stadium, but the arrival of Porto winger Jesús Corona and the rise of Henry Martín as their new No.9 could see Mexico do what is necessary to claim their second win in the Qualifiers this Sunday.

El Salvador vs Honduras

Los Cuscatlecos were off to a good start last Thursday with their draw against one of the most powerful teams in the Qualifiers, and now, the team coached by Hugo Pérez will try to claim a win against Honduras, one of the teams that has certain similarities with them. On the other side of the pitch, Los Catrachos have frequently been named as one of the favorites to secure a place in the World Cup, and this game could be key to those efforts since they have gathered positive results against El Salvador throughout their history. All they will need to do is to be more accurate in front of goal, something they failed to achieve in their one-all draw against Canada last Thursday.

USA vs Canada

The Yanks did not have the greatest outing on Thursday, when they were unable to break the deadlock against El Salvador. Now, Gregg Berhalter's men return to home ground to face Canada, one of the teams that has shown the most progress in the region under coach John Herdman. The Stars and Stripes have met previously against the Canucks in the present year, which could give them an idea on how to make the most out of their chances against a team that may not be as impressive in front of goal, but has surely found a way to make their chances count. With both teams being named as contenders for a spot in next year's World Cup, this is a must-watch game for all football fans in the region.
