Cruz Azul and América will try to keep up the good form that has seen them climb to the top spots in the standings after nine games.

The Guard1anes 2021 tournament is starting to get old, but that does not mean that it will grow dull. In fact, each matchday has brought a new story to tell, and we honestly can't wait to hear about the ones we will get to know this weekend.

The games played between Tuesday and Thursday left quite a few talking points for fans to discuss, starting with América's win over Tijuana, Cruz Azul's one-nil win over Mazatlán, or the controversial penalty kick that gave Pumas a crucial win over Santos. To top it all, Monterrey's 6-1 victory against Juárez makes us believe that at least three of the winners mentioned above will be fighting for a straight spot in the tournament's playoffs.

The game between Atlético San Luis and Toluca will kick things off on Friday. Later that day, the surprising Puebla will host Tigres at Cuauhtémoc Stadium, which will mark a great occasion for the away team to try and bounce back from their midweek loss against Toluca.

Saturday will be the busiest day of the weekend, with four games scheduled to be played. It will all begin at Jalisco Stadium between Atlas and Juárez. Two hours aftet that game's kickoff, América will try to continue with their impressive form when they host the struggling champions León. Meanwhile, Monterrey will host Querétaro in what should be an interesting match. Last, but not least, Mazatlán and Guadalajara will put an end to Saturday's activity in what will be Chivas' first trip ever to play a competitive match in Mazatlán.

Sunday's big game will feature Pumas and Cruz Azul, who will lock horns after Pumas' come-from-behind win in last December's playoffs. Prior to that game, Santos and Necaxa will warm things up in a game between two struggling teams.
