Women's Friendly: Where to watch England vs Germany live on November 9

November 8, 2019 By Michelle Bonsu
It's set to be a sold-out crowd as England lock horns with Germany in a friendly clash, but can the hosts put their struggling form behind them? Live Soccer TV's match preview provides team news, match facts, and global broadcast listings for England vs. Germany.

Current Form: England vs Germany

England will be hoping that the support of a sell-out home crowd at Wembley will be enough to rally them when Germany come to town on Saturday. Phil Neville's side have been in disappointing form as of late, with just one victory in their last four matches since the World Cup, and injuries certainly have not helped in keeping any kind of consistency in the team's ranks.

Despite the encouraging and hard fought win over a tough Portuguese side, they'll come into this contest with a slew of key players on the treatment table, making Neville's selection for his starting XI even more difficult, and although England, as hosts for the EURO 2021 tournament do not have to play any qualifying games, they do have the upcoing Tokyo Olympics next year to concern themselves with.

Meanwhile, Germany have only lost one game since the start of 2019. However, the no. 2-ranked side in women's football have more than recovered since, as they come into this game having won their last four fixtures. Die Nationalelf looked like their true self as they easily swept aside their opponents without conceding a goal, but then again, playing against Montenegro, Ukraine (twice), and Greece, would hardly make Germany break a sweat as they cruised to very comfortable victories. Over the course of those four games, they outscored their weaker opponents by a whopping margin of 31 goals to zero, and are well on course to securing their spot at EURO 2021.

Still, it's exactly the confidence booster Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's side would gladly take after their shock early World Cup elimination this summer, and they definitely come into this friendly match in much better form than their hosts.

Ironically, both England and Germany do have something in common: They saw their World Cup dreams ended by none other than Sweden this past summer. For the Three Lionesses, the Scandanivian side snatched victory during the consolation game, which denied them a chance at winning bronze. Meanwhile, die Nationalelf were beaten by the Blågult in a competitive game for the first time since 1991.

Team news: England vs Germany

England: Jill Scott, Georgia Stanway and Millie Bright have all had to withdraw from the team due to injury. In addition, both Fran Kirby and Toni Duggan are also set to be absent from this fixture as a result of recent injuries, but star striker Ellen White, who scored six goals in France, is back in the fold after shaking off her own injury troubles.

Germany: Unlike their hosts, Germany don't have a slew of injury worries ahead of this game.

Match facts: England vs Germany
