About BBC Sport Web
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)’s sports department has played a significant role in the broadcaster’s coverage of sporting events around the world. Since the BBC Sport brand was launched in 1988 ahead of the Summer Olympics in Seoul that year, it has gone on to garner a large following, thanks to its operator’s extensive portfolio of sports competition rights.
As BBC Sport encapsulate the BBC’s sport-related broadcasts on all platforms—television, radio and online—the brand has managed to secure a vast collection of UK-based radio rights, in the past. It has brought its international audience live audio commentary for some of the biggest events in many sports disciplines, including American football, cricket, golf, rugby, tennis, motorsport and association football.
