Barcelona have suffered a blow as Carles Puyol has been ruled out of their squad ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League match against Arsenal.
Puyol has apparently failed against time to overcome the tendonitis problem which has been worrying him since a few weeks now. The Barca skipper had to miss last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Sporting Gijon as Pep Guardiola was hoping to have him fit for this week’s Champions League Round of 16 match in London.

But Puyol is not the only man on Barcelona’s injury list. Youngster Jeffren is yet to find back the level of fitness that can see him participate in training sessions.

In contrast, Arsenal could welcome Nasri back into their line up. The French man claims to be fully fit after sustaining a hamstring injury back in January.

Earlier today, Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger told the media during a press conference that Samir Nasri had been named in the Gunners’ roster although he may not play come Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola should have key players Xavi, Iniesta and Messi all available for the encounter. Barcelona’s 18-man squad goes as follows:

Goalkeepers: Valdes, Pinto

Defenders: Alves, Pique, Milito, Maxwell, Adriano, Abidal

Midfielders: Xavi, Iniesta, Mascherano, Keita, Sergio Busquets, Thiago

Strikers: Villa, Bojan, Messi, Pedro, Afellay
