Most-watched soccer games in the USA: May 13-19, 2024
The viewership numbers for soccer games aired in the USA on May 13-19, 2024, are in. While this week coincided with the exciting end to the 2023-24 Premier League season, Liga MX took center stage — to no one's surprise — due to the second leg Clausura semifinals.
Topping the viewership chart is Club America's clash with bitter rivals Guadalajara as Mexico's two biggest teams battled it out for a spot in the final. Nearly 1.35 million average viewers tuned in to Univision to catch this showdown as the Eagles beat Chivas 1-0 to progress to the final round. Meanwhile, an additional 339,00 average viewers opted for TUDN's coverage of the game.
In second place is the other Clausura semifinal: Cruz Azul vs. Monterrey. These two sides faced off on Sunday, with La Máquina progressing to the final despite losing 2-1 at home. This tie also earned over one million average viewers for Univision — 1,079,000, to be precise — and garnered a 0.53 rating.
Wrapping things up is the title-deciding match in the Premier League. Manchester City hosted West Ham on Championship Sunday, the final day of the 2023-24 season. The Cityzens simply needed to beat the Hammers to lift a historic fourth consecutive title, and they did just that, triumphing 3-1 thanks to a Phil Foden brace.
This match earned 847,000 average viewers for NBC as Guardiola's side became the first team in history to win four Premier League trophies in a row. City finished on 91 points, two more than nearest rivals Arsenal (89) who beat Everton 2-1 on the final day in vain.
