Fernando Torres certainly thought he made the right decision when he left Liverpool to join rivals Chelsea, but loyal defender Martin Skrtel thinks completely otherwise.
Moments before Torres’ transfer, reports came out that the striker was regarded as a selfish player by the majority of the Liverpool team members. Seeing that the Spaniard was mainly in search of individual success, Skrtel was surely not surprised to see the Euro 2008 winner settle in London. Displeasure upon Torres’ resolution was apparently what the Slovak felt the most.

“We all feel sorry (to have lost Fernando Torres), because he’s a player of world class ability,” he admitted. “But, to be honest, it was no surprise.

“This season has not been going according to our (Liverpool’s) wishes and expectations, and that convinced him that it is the right time to move elsewhere. That is how he explained it to us. Maybe Fernando will regret making this step (Chelsea transfer) sometime in the future.”

Torres and Skrtel will face each other this weekend in the much-anticipated Chelsea vs Liverpool match in the Premier League. A win for Chelsea could place the Blues in fourth position in the table, while a triumph for Kenny Dalglish’s side could push the Reds to the sixth spot.
