The Belgian international has been a key element this season for Chelsea, which would have earned him a good raise and a contract extension.

Belgian midfielder Eden Hazard could be close to sign a new five-year deal with current club Chelsea, after being sought out by some of Europe's top-paying clubs.

Hazard has been key to Jose Mourinho's tactics ever since the Portuguese returned to coach the Blues in 2012, having taken part of every game for Chelsea this season, scoring six goals and forming a great society with Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa.

Team officials and the player's agents had been talking about a new deal for Hazard in the past few months, and apparently the new contract would be signed shortly. Sources indicate PSG's interest in acquiring the Belgian international did not go unnoticed to Chelsea's directors, forcing them to offer their player a 200,000 pound salary per week. If the deal comes true, then Hazard will be at the top of Chelsea's payroll.

Chelsea currently hold the first place in the Premier League standings, with a three-point advantage over last season champions Manchester City.
