Newcastle United Football Club, commonly known as Newcastle, is an English professional football club based in Newcastle. It was founded in 1892 and is nicknamed “The Magpies” by supporters. Newcastle plays all its home games at St. James’s Park, a venue that opened in 1892 and seats 52,305 people in its current format.
The team has spent most of its history playing in the top two tiers of English football dating back to 1893. Although much of their success took place in eras past, namely between 1904 and 1910 when they won three Premier League (then known as First Division) titles, Newcastle ranks in the top ten among English clubs in terms of number of total trophies won.
