According to a recent interview with Diego Simeone, the Atletico Madrid boss said:

“It would not surprise me if a team with financial power and every chance to have a great player like Diego Costa, think of him.”

To make the transfer of Costa even more likely are Simeone’s words on ex-Atletico Madrid striker Nino Torres. The Argentinean coach declared that “[Torres] is a lad who will belong to Atletico no matter where he is playing.”

El Nino Torres and Diego Costa: both Spanish, both played for Atletico Madrid.

Fernando Torres and Diego Costa in a swap deal?

This, coupled with the Rojiblancos coach’s previous comment on Spanish radio Onda Cero, where he revealed that El Nino “would love to come back” to Atletico, suggest an imminent swap of Diego Costa for Fernando Torres.

The deal seems to be perfect. On one side Costa would fit Mourinho’s style heavily focused on players’ strength. On the other side it would help Chelsea resolve a £50 million failed investment and comply with the stringent financial fair play rules. There is a strong impression however, that Chelsea would be the only team getting a “deal.”

How will these talks affect the second leg of both teams' UEFA Champions League semi-final tie at Stamford Bridge?
