With the Liverpool man eager to move away from Anfield in a bid to join Real Madrid, one has to think about the whole logic behind the Spanish side’s unwavering interest in the player
"I have had enough. My wife and daughter have suffered and I'm not prepared to continue putting up with English journalists," said the Uruguayan forward during an interview with radio station 'Sport980' in his home country.

Indeed, Suarez is quite angry with the English media, so angry that he chose to use his wife and daughter as the reason why he wants to leave Liverpool. The Uruguayan international’s whining was heard as far as the biggest atrium at the Santiago Bernabeu. Always looking to add a bit more gloss to a squad that is usually always filled with star players, Madrid chose to enter the race for another striker.

After reportedly making Napoli an offer for the services of Edinson Cavani, it is quite strange that Madrid are interested in another striker. Moreover, with Karim Benzema already doing ever so well, one has to wonder why Madrid are so hell-bent on loading Carlo Ancelotti’s dressing room with three proven strikers.

Another interesting point is that Real Madrid have two really good academy players in the shape of Jese Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata. The two players should be given priority, just like their fellow countrymen are given at Barcelona who have been quite a factory of talent in recent years.

Both the players have done a commendable job of leading the attack when their services have been called upon. Jese was a key figure as the Spanish team romped towards the European under 19 Final, winning the tournament after defeating Greece 1-0 courtesy of Jese’s goal. The 20 year old also ended the tournament as the top scorer of the campaign with five goals under his name.

His compatriot and teammate Alvaro Morata has also enjoyed success for his national side. He too was instrumental in Spain’s recent triumph in the European U-21 Championship, his four goals did not just make him the event’s top scorer but were also important in helping Spain clinch their second consecutive Euro U-21 title.

Suarez wants to leave Liverpool and has already said that he will find it hard to turn down Madrid’s overtures. And if he does eventually sign for them, there is no question that he would not do well. The former Ajax man is a proven striker and if he can carry an under-performing Liverpool side on his own, he can definitely aim even bigger when he is teamed up with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Ozil and Xabi Alonso.

However, it is still illogical when one thinks about a Suarez-Madrid rumour. With Karim Benzema doing even better than he used to at Olympique Lyonnais, it is hard to see Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane ignore the France international who has become an integral part of the starting eleven regardless of managers coming and going.

Idiosyncrasies with the baggage

No one denies the fact that Suarez is a rare talent and deserves to achieve more success in his career. However, there is also no hiding the fact that the Uruguay international has the tendency to do childish things. His shenanigans were tolerated at Liverpool for a while but making a meal of things at the expense of Branislav Ivanovic was going too far.

Although he has apologised for his actions, Suarez is an unpredictable individual. One small incident and Real Madrid would be in a PR fiasco that would make the ones related to Jose Mourinho look like trivial matters.

The club’s image was affected a lot under Mourinho and Madrid should look into Suarez’s past before making any move as the club already owes it to La Liga to build its reputation again.

In short, Suarez to Real Madrid is a move that is fraught with a lot of complications, for the club and the player himself. An interesting fact should also be kept in mind.

The last time a Liverpool striker joined Real Madrid, he came back to England a shadow of his former self due to many reasons which means that Suarez should also assess the pros and cons of the move first before trying to be wooed away.
