Chivas and America lock horns in what promises to be a hotly-contested Mexican Super Clasico at Estadio Omnilife on Sunday.

Chivas del Guadalajara and Club America, Mexico's two most widely supported clubs, come into the derby in fine form as both sides are unbeaten for a number of rounds.

While Chivas have registered nine successive matches without suffering a single defeat, America have accumulated three games without a loss.

America lie in third place of the general table, with 21 points, and Chivas occupy ninth place, with 16 points. Both teams are expected to qualify for the playoffs.

Despite counting with 5 points more than their rivals, America have lost twice in the Clausura 2013, while Chivas have only lost once. Due to the fact that Chivas have drawn seven of their 11 games so far, they have been labelled "the drawing kings" by the local press.

Chivas, who have managed to remain unbeaten in their last nine league games with three wins and six draws, will be unable to count with the services of midfielder Patricio Araujo, who is serving a suspension.

But Chivas coach Benjamin Galindo will be delighted by the fact that striker Marco Fabian will return to the side, and boost an attack that has been struggling to find goals this season.

Meanwhile, tall defender Diego Reyes, who was part of the Mexico squad that won the 2012 Olympic Games gold medal, is unavailable for America, due to suspension.

But Miguel Herrera, the coach of Las Aguilas, will be able to count with the return of the South American duo of Rubens Sambueza and Aquivaldo Mosquera, who are from Argentina and Colombia, respectively.

Herrera has already confirmed that Raul Jimenez and Christian Benitez, the league's second-highest scorer with 7 goals, will take the field as America's attacking partnership.
