It took Barcelona every ounce of their energy, but the club finally came up with the signing coach Xavi Hernández asked from his employers to make the team more competitive.
The Gabonese footballer arrived to Barcelona to force a move away from Arsenal early in the morning, but things seemed to go sideways for all parties involved as Arsenal and the Blaugrana side were not being able to agree on the transfer fee or on the player's wages and how much each team would cover. Aubameyang defended his ground and refused to return to London, as he was prepared to go the last mile to see this move take place.
Eventually, Arsenal agreed to let the player leave as a free agent, which will also give Barcelona time to figure things out with Financial Fair Play rules and to add him as a new member of the squad. Hence, the official announcement by the club will take place on Tuesday.
Aubameyang will join Barcelona for the next eighteen months, contrary to the initial six-month loan discussed by Spanish and English media outlets. Moments after the deal was completed, journalist Fabrizio Romano posted what can be seen as Aubameyang's first picture as a Blaugrana player.
