Fulham forward Dimitar Berbatov returns to his old hunting ground at Old Trafford as FA Cup fourth round action takes place this weekend.

Dimitar Berbatov and Alex Ferguson never found the right chemistry between them at Manchester United. In the last few years, there is no player who managed to delight and frustrate the Manchester United fans in equal measure than Dimitar Berbatov. While his supporters swear by his obvious talent and great footballing intelligence, his critics point to his lackadaisical attitude and languid style and declare him as a misfit into the Man United setup.

In his four seasons at Old Trafford, Berbatov managed to rack up 56 goals in 149 appearances. Those statistics do not indicate Berbatov's Old Trafford tenure as a flop, whatever might his critics say.

His performances in the 3-2 win against traditional rivals Liverpool and 5 goals against 7-1 win against their Lancashire neighbours Blackburn Rovers outline the splendid skill and abundance of talent that Berbatov possesses.

It was the expectations of being a record transfer for a club like Manchester United that affected Berbatov the most. Fluid and exceptional for the Spurs, he was expected to set the stage alight with his performances like Cantona did after his move from Leeds.

His recent form hasn't gone unnoticed by his admirers at Stretford end. Phil Jones, who has a first-hand experience of facing Dimitar said:

“It'll be great to see Berba back at Old Trafford, technically he's a fantastic player. Hopefully we can get the result we want and continue to progress in the competition.”

It would be fair to say that his current colleagues would be looking up to him to lead the way, while his opponents would be racking their brains to remember the best way to stop him doing so. This tea time FA cup fourth round match is scheduled for 17:30 GMT on Saturday.
