The race for the three and a half tickets for the WC provided a few surprises last month. Will we have some more of those coming this time around?

We enter the fourth day of action in the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers, and with four teams still defending their unbeaten status, things are about to get even more interesting for all teams involved.

As of now, Mexico, the United States, Canada, and Panama are still unbeaten in the tournament, which means that those behind them will want to take advantage of any setbacks they they may face in the next few days. Mexico has been the only team to win twice during the CONCACAF Qualifiers, and with two games at home coming up for El Tri, things can only get better for Gerardo Martino's men.

Before we go deeper into the games, let's have a look at how the standings look like after matchday 4.

Without further ado, here are Thursday's fixtures.

USA vs Jamaica

The Yanks claimed an emphatic win over Honduras last time out to improve their run in the tournament after two consecutive draws. On the other hand, Jamaica has only collected one draw after three games, which will surely add pressure to Theodore Whitmore's crew. It will be interesting to see how Jamaica adapts to some key absences, such as Michail Antonio or Leon Bailey, who were not able to make the trip due to injury. On the other hand, Gregg Berhalter's men will try to put a bit more pressure on Mexico and claim the top spot of the tournament -at least momentarily- with a win over the Reggae Boyz.

Honduras vs Costa Rica

Two of the most powerful and consistent CONCACAF teams in the past decade have started the ongoing Qualifiers with no wins after three games, and if they continue following that path, they might kiss their chances of making a new World Cup goodbye. Los Ticos have only been able to score once in three games, which speaks volumes of their aging offense, while Honduras conceded four in their last outing against the USMNT and lost a game where they opened up the scoring, which may give us an idea on which area they need to improve ahead of this game. Either way, this clash between two teams in need could deliver quite a  few thrills for football enthusiasts.

Mexico vs Canada

Mexico are the best team in the CONCACAF WC Qualifiers so far, but that does not mean El Tri has breezed past their rivals. They suffered quite a few scares against Jamaica at home and in their last game of September's break against Panama, but with the returns of Raúl Jiménez and Hirving Lozano, things can only improve for Gerardo Martino's men. On the other hand, Canada make it to this match without a loss, and with Alphonso Davies' return to the mix, the Canucks look determined to win their first World Cup Qualifying match at Azteca Stadium and put an end to the baffling results they have earned there, which include an eight-nil loss back in 1993.

El Salvador vs Panama

Los Cuscatlecos are seventh in the Qualifiers despite not being able to score a single goal yet, while Panama make it to this match ranked fourth in the competition and with real hopes of making it to the top of the group if Mexico drops points against Canada. Los Canaleros came close to defeat Mexico last month, but their inability to hold on to a clean sheet ended that possibility. Will they be able to defend their net properly this time, or will El Salvador keep their World Cup hopes alive by winning this game and finding the back of the net while at it?
