The youngster stressed the importance for the Basques to go for the win in their Europa League round of 16 return leg against Manchester United.
Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera affirmed that his side will not try to hold onto their advantage, and instead will look to obtain another victory when they clash with Manchester United in the Europa League at San Mames on Thursday.

Marcelo Bielsa's outfit picked up a valuable 3-2 victory over United at Old Trafford in the first leg of the tie, and could even advance to the quarter-finals of the competition with a narrow loss.

"If we try to hold onto our advantage it will be difficult. We have to try to win the game, although evidently lots of things can happen. We will confront the match looking for a win because Athletic don't know how to play in another manner," Herrera explained to the press.

The youngster believes that the best approach that Athletic could possibly take into the game is to search for a goal at all costs.

"We characterise ourselves by going out to win games, and the best form to clinch the tie is to score a goal. We don't like to speculate and because of this we will go out to win the game from the very first minute, even knowing that we face one of the best [teams] in the world," he affirmed.

Athletic Bilbao are in a comfortable position to advance to the quarter-finals of a European competition for the first time in 35 years, but are more than aware that it will be a very hotly contested affair.

"We will surely suffer, we will have to unite, be strong and we need the help of our fans because with them we feel stronger, like was the case in Old Trafford, when those 10,000 people pushed us," he concluded.

While Athletic's star striker Fernando Llorente is in serious doubt for the game, the Basque side should still rate their chances of progressing, particularly because they have managed to find the back of the net in their last 17 games in a row. A further goal against United would surely seal the tie in their favour.
