Arsenal might not do enough to prevent Milan from sealing qualification into the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Eventually, what counts most for the Gunners is to defend their pride.
Arsenal are not entering into Tuesday night’s Champions League Round of 16 match at the Emirates Stadium as defeated warriors. The Gunners’ task is a mammoth one but as much as nothing is impossible in football, belief is present at their camp.

“We have to believe it, otherwise there's no point being here. If they [AC Milan] can beat us 4-0, then why can't we do the same?” Gibbs asked speaking to UEFA.com’s microphone.

“If you don't turn up on the night, with a bad performance and also not the greatest luck, then you have no chance. If you have those two combined, then you've got no chance of winning.”

Finding a reason for their collapse to AC Milan at the San Siro, the young defender explained:

“Maybe, tactically, we decided not to play as much as we'd like to. We were desperate to get that goal, and then it played in our heads and that's why we suffered.”

Calls for Arsene Wenger’s sacking instantly popped up after that 4-0 loss but recent victories against Spurs and Liverpool have boosted the relationship between the team and the manager. Gibbs concluded:

“We have to show him [manager Arsène Wenger] and the club that they don't deserve this from us as players. So we will look forward to trying to restore that pride.”

According to Arsene Wenger, there’s “just a 5 per cent” chance that Arsenal will reach the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League quarter-final stage at the expense of AC Milan. The point is that, even if they exit the competition as expected, the Gunners wouldn’t like to blame themselves for lacking belief.
