Sofyan Amrabat is preparing for Wednesday's all-important showdown with France, with Morocco set to face the European giants in the second of two 2022 FIFA World Cup semifinals.
The 26-year-old midfielder has been one of the star performers at Qatar 2022 and has been a key member of the Atlas Lions' historic run, becoming the first African nation ever to reach the last four of this prestigious competition.
And as a result, his brilliant performance on the biggest stage has garnered interest from football's biggest clubs. Amrabat, who is currently employed by Serie A outfit Fiorentina, has been linked with a host of Premier League teams.
Not only that but the likes of Barcelona and Atletico have been credited with an interest in the Moroccon sensation, with the player addressing these rumors ahead of Wednesday's semifinal.
Amrabat admitted to being proud of these links and even hailed Diego Simeone's style, possibly hinting at where his preference lies. Nonetheless, the midfielder reminded everyone of his loyalty to his current team, stressing the love and respect he has for Fiorentina and its president.
"I'm proud to be linked to top clubs like Barcelona and Atlético. But I'm a Fiorentina player, I respect the club and I've a great relationship with the president," the Serie A ace told Marca, as per Fabrizio Romano.
"Simeone? We have good coach at Fiorentina too but… yes, I like Cholo's style."
While several of the top performers at Qatar 2022 have garnered transfer headlines, expect Amrabat to be focused on the upcoming showdown with France. The North African team have already defied the odds to get here, but with a ticket to the final being one step away, Walid Regragui's men will give it their all in order to book a clash with Argentina in the ultimate fixture.
So far, no team has scored past the Moroccans, with the one goal they have conceded coming through an own goal. Hakimi and Co. have overcome the likes of Belgium, Spain, and Portugal to reach the penultimate stage but facing off against the likes of Mbappe, Giroud, Griezmann, and Dembele will be a whole different test.
