FOX Sports asked and fans responded. Carli Lloyd is the fans’ Women’s Player of the Decade.

Lloyd, 37, caught the eyes of U.S. Women’s Soccer Team fans as early as 2007 when she scored four goals in the Algarve Cup making her the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. The rest is history filled with glory.

The New Jersey native went on to win four more Algarve Cups, two FIFA Women’s World Cups, two CONCACAF Women’s Championships, two CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, two SheBelieves Cups, one Olympic gold medal and one Tournament of Nations in the entirety of the decade. 

As for Lloyd’s most resounding individual honors and awards, she was shortlisted for FIFA World Player of the Year in 2012, 2015 and 2016. In 2015, Lloyd was the star of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada winning the Golden Ball, the Golden Boot for scoring six goals and earned the FIFA Women’s World Cup Goal of the Tournament for her hat-trick sealer from half-field against Japan in the final which came in the fifteenth minute. In addition, she was named FIFA World Player of the Year and CONCACAF Women’s player of the Year. In the following year, Lloyd was crowned The Best FIFA Women’s Player and was inducted to the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2017.

Lloyd finished the decade scoring one goal in the USWNT’S historic 13-0 win over Thailand and two more against Chile during the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup at age 36.
