Solskjaer looks to rectify the mistake that was failing to replace Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku.

One area that Man United are clearly struggling in this season is the attack. After shipping off both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, the Red Devils have struggled to find the back of the net for the majority of the season.

The Red Devils have scored eight goals in the Premier League this season and have failed to find the back of the net only once in all competitions in 2019/20. However, of the eight goals they scored in the English top-flight, four came in their opening game and since then, Solskjaer’s men have never scored more than once in a match.

As a result, Solskjaer is keen on addressing this issue once the January transfer window opens. The Red Devils boss wishes to resume his chase of an experienced Serie A forward.

According to Goal, that man is none other than Mario Mandzukic. At the age of 33, he would bring bags of experience to Solskjaer’s lineup, having enjoyed tremendous success in Germany and Italy.

Man United’s interest in the Croatian forward isn’t something new. The Premier League giants were heavily linked with the Juventus forward during the summer but came up short after failing to reach an agreement with the player and his employers.

However, with Cristiano and Higuain being Sarri’s go-to guys for goals at the Old Lady, Mandzukic could do with a transfer. He is yet to feature under Juventus’ new manager and could fine playing time at Old Trafford.

Currently, Solskjaer is without the services of both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, both of which are out with injuries. This means 17-year-old Mason Greenwood is the only recognized striker available for their upcoming clash with Arsenal on Monday.
