What is Brazil's history in the FIFA Women's World Cup?

Seven-time South America champions, Brazil, will be making their eighth appearance at the FIFA Women's World Cup in France this summer. The Selecao has qualified to every single edition of the intercontinental competition since 1991.

Who are the key players to watch for Brazil at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup?

Back in January 2018, veteran Brazilian forward Marta revealed to FIFA.com that France 2019 could potentially be her final World Cup. The 33-year-old striker has featured in four of her country's seven previous appearances on the world stage and has led the Selecao to the quarterfinals on two occasions (2003 and 2011) and a runners-up finish (2007).

Marta completed a switch to the National Women's Soccer League club Orlando Pride in 2017 and has since been impressive, completing her debut season as the second player with the most number of goals and assists in the league.

With fresh legs coming into the Brazilian side, the experience of the six-time FIFA World Player of the Year will prove to be invaluable for Brazil, come this summer in France. Still, Marta holds the record for the most goals scored at FIFA Women's World Cup tournaments with her 15 goals in 17 outings.

Also, Ludmila da Silva and Adriana are among the names that could win hearts when Brazil makes its berth in Group C against the likes of Australia, Jamaica, and Italy. The former, who currently plays with Atletico Madrid as a forward has registered 22 goals in 49 appearances since moving to Spain's Primera División side in 2017.

On the other hand, Adriana was named the 2018 Prêmio Craque do Brasileirão after her 14 league goals for Corinthians made her the second highest goal scorer in the 2018 Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol Feminino.

Who is Brazil's coach?

Oswaldo Fumeiro Alvarez, commonly known as Vadão, is the current head coach of the Brazil women's national team. The 62-year-old Sao Paolo naitive replaced Emily Lima in 2017 for a second spell after being in charge of As Canarihas between 2014 and 2016.
