Aguero targets historic quadruple with Man City

Aguero targets historic quadruple with Man City after dramatic FA Cup quarter-final win

March 16, 2019 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The 30-year-old grabbed a brace in Saturday's cup game to send his side into the semi-finals.

Manchester City attacker Sergio Aguero is optimistic about his side securing a historic quadruple following Saturday's FA Cup win over Swansea. The Argentine forward came off the bench to score twice in the quarterfinal tie as the Citizens run away with a controversial 3-2 victory at Swansea.

Manchester City was made to endure a tough test after the hosts struck twice in the first 29 minutes through Matt Grimes and Bersant Celina. However, Pep's side turned up the gear in the second-half with Bernado Silva instigating the turnaround with a goal in the 69th minute.

A controversial penalty was then awarded City after Raheem Sterling went down under minimal contact from Cameron Carter-Vickers. The resulting spot kick was missed by Sergio Aguero although his effort ended up in the back of the net after fortuitously hitting the foot of Swansea goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt.

The 30-year-old Argentine striker subsequently completed the comeback with yet another contested goal which he apparently scored from an offside position.

With Manchester City still on course to win four trophies this season, Aguero endorsed the possibility of the feat being actualized following the end of the match.

"Always possible, always," he said.

"Sometimes these comebacks happen, it is important that we've qualified for the semi-finals, so we're happy.

"We always believed it would come, always we fight."
