The current English Premier League leaders will be thoroughly investigated after reports of Financial Fair Play breaches surfaced.

Following reports by Spanish and English newspapers regarding Manchester City's transfer business, UEFA has decided to look into the alleged breach of Financial Fair Play rules by the English side.

In a brief press release, football's governing body in Europe gave credit to those reports that have prompted the investigation. Manchester City is well-known around the world for their high-spending tactics to land prominent players, but as of now, the team has escaped any bans related to the Financial Fair Play rules.

"The Investigatory Chamber of the independent UEFA Club Financial Control Body has today opened a formal investigation into Manchester City FC for potential breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

The investigation will focus on several alleged violations of FFP that were recently made public in various media outlets. UEFA will make no further comments on the matter while the investigation is ongoing," the press release states.

The English side is still contending to win the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League. We will have to wait and see the effect this investigation has on the team's performance in both competitions.
