Yorkshire rivals Leeds United and Barnsley will clash in what is sure to be a white hot atmosphere at Elland Road on Tuesday.
Leeds will be looking to consolidate their position in the top six with a win over Barnsley, as will Norwich City who play host to Doncaster Rovers. Third placed Swansea City will travel to face Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena, while Cardiff City will play host to fellow playoff contenders Leicester City.

League leaders Queens Park Rangers will play host to in-form Ipswich Town, while second placed Nottingham Forest will be looking to continue their unbeaten home record against rock bottom Preston North End.

Scunthorpe United and Sheffield United will go head to head at Glanford Park in a crucial relegation battle, both teams are currently placed in the relegation zone and in desperate need of a victory.

Sheffield United will come into this match riding a 12 game winless streak.





Eddie Nolan and Josh Wright returned to training this week and could return for Scunthorpe. Rob Jones, Cliff Byrne and Joe Murphy head a lengthy injury list that will be unavailable for the Iron.





Midfielder Nick Montgomery is ruled out with injury for the Blades, while striker Sam Vokes is doubtful.



Fellow promotion contenders Cardiff City and Leicester City will do battle at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday. Cardiff will be looking to bounce back quickly from the weekend defeat suffered at Nottingham Forest, while Leicester are seeking their sixth straight win.





Defender Kevin McNaughton will feature for Cardiff, and told BBC sport this week that his team are looking to recover quickly from the Forest loss. “We’ve got to pick ourselves up again because we can’t really feel sorry for ourselves,” said McNaughton.





The Leicester attack will be led by in-form partnership Andy King and Yakubu. One of the pair has found the net in each of the Foxes’ last six league games.



Norwich City will continue their promotion challenge as they play host to Doncaster Rovers at Carrow Road on Tuesday. Norwich are only one point behind second place Nottingham Forest, and will be looking for their third straight home win in this game.





Doncaster are eight points above the relegation zone, and will be looking to end a miserable run of form against the Canaries. Rovers have lost their last four games by a combined score of 12-0.





Simon Lappin and Chris Martin are sidelined with injury for Norwich, while defender Leon Barnett is a long-term absentee.





Blackpool loanee Jason Euell will continue in attack for Doncaster, after making his debut in the weekend’s 3-0 defeat at Swansea City.



Promotion chasing Swansea City will be looking for their third straight win as they travel to face Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena. Mid-table Coventry are looking to follow up on their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace last time out.





Scott Sinclair will lead the attack for third place Swansea, the former Chelsea forward has scored twice on the last two games for Swansea. Defender Ashley Williams will play at the back, and has also scored in each of the Swans last two victories.





Leading goal scorer Marlon King will lead the Coventry attack, having netted the winning goal last time out against Crystal Palace.



Struggling Bristol City will look to avoid their third straight defeat as they travel to face Watford at Vicarage Road on Tuesday. Watford will be looking to end a seven game winless streak and haul themselves back up the table towards the playoff race.





League leading goal scorer Danny Graham will lead the attack for Watford, and will be looking to add to his tally of 16 Championship goals this season.





Bristol captain Louis Carey will continue in defense, after making his return from injury in the weekend defeat at Leicester City. Jamie McAllister is ruled out for the Robins with a fractured rib suffered during the same game.

Republic of Ireland international Paul McShane is likely to make his Barnsley debut, after joining the club on loan from Hull City.



Hull City will be looking to continue their eight league game unbeaten streak when they travel to face struggling Derby County. Hull are seven points below the playoff spots, while Derby are seven points above the drop zone after failing to win in their last eight games.





Liverpool loanee Daniel Ayala will play at the back for Derby against the team with whom he spent the first half of this season on loan. “To play Hull will be very special, but I have to remember my focus is on helping Derby County win tomorrow night,” Ayala told the official Derby County website.





Cameron Stewart is ruled out with injury for Hull, after being stretchered off during the weekend’s 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town.



Portsmouth will be looking for their third straight win when they play host to Crystal Palace at Fratton Park on Tuesday. Palace gave themselves a five point cushion above the relegation zone with an important 1-0 win over Sheffield United at the weekend, while Portsmouth are a further four points above them.





Jonathan Hogg will return from suspension for Portsmouth, while Liam Lawrence is doubtful with a calf injury. Nwankwo Kanu could feature in the Pompey attack, after coming off the bench to net the winning goal in the weekend win over Barnsley.





Fulham loanee Kagisha Dikgacoi will continue in the Palace midfield, after the South African international made his debut in the weekend win over Sheffield United.



Rock bottom Preston North End achieved an impressive 1-1 draw against league leading Queens Park Rangers over the weekend, they will now look to follow that up with a positive result when they travel to face second placed Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.





Forest are only five points behind QPR, and will be looking for their fifth straight home win. Preston are 11 points adrift of safety, and must end an 11 game winless streak if they are ot hand Forest their first home defeat of the season.





Radoslaw Majewski is suspended for Forest, while Guy Moussi is a long-term injury absentee.





QPR loanee Leon Clarke will return for Preston, while Iain Hume, Paul Coutts and Chris Brown are all doubtful with injury.



Millwall will be looking to revive their playoff push when they travel to face Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday. Millwall have fallen seven points behind the playoff spots after losing 3-2 to Middlesbrough over the weekend, while Reading are two points behind and winless in their last six league games.





On-loan Mikele Leigertwood will continue the Reading midfield and was praised this week by manager Brian McDermott. “When he plays he always comes out with the ball, even if the team aren’t playing well you know what you’re going to get from him,” McDermott told BBC Sport. Leigertwood has yet to be on the losing side in the 12 games he has played for the Royals.





Leading goal scorer Steve Morison will lead the line for Millwall, and will be looking to add to his tally of 11 league goals for the season.



Queens Park Rangers will look to extend their five point lead at the top of the Championship table when they face Ipswich Town at Loftus Road. QPR will enter the game unbeaten in their last eight league games, while Ipswich have not lost in their last six.





Hogan Ephraim is suspended for QPR, while striker Tommy Smith is ruled out with injury. Troy Hewitt could included in the squad after joining QPR this week from Harrow Borough.





Jimmy Bullard will return to the Ipswich midfield and Connor Wickham looks set to play despite picking up a minor knock in the weekend’s 1-1 draw against Hull City. David Norris is ruled out for the Tractor Boys with an ankle injury.
