Wolves vs Liverpool live on December 21, 2018: Time, team news, broadcast listings

December 21, 2018 By Ali M.
In our match preview informing you where to watch Liverpool's trip to Wolves, we compare team statistics and analyze both teams’ head-to-head record.

What's the form of Wolves compared to Liverpool?

After a run of seven win-less games from October 6 to November 30, Wolves have turned things around and have now won three games in a row in the Premier League. This includes a 2-1 win over Chelsea, with the newly-promoted side earning draws at Old Trafford and the Emirates Stadium this season, while holding Man City 1-1 at home.

As for Liverpool, everyone knows what their form is like. After 17 games, the Reds have won 14 times and have drawn the remaining three in the English top-flight's only remaining unbeaten run. They now sit at the top of the table and head into this game on the back of a five-game winning run in all competitions that includes victories over Everton, Napoli, and Man United.

Wolves vs Liverpool head-to-head record

Understandably, the Merseyside giant boasts the superior head-to-head record. However, in their last encounter, Wolves beat their opponent 2-1 at Anfield in a 2017 FA Cup clash.

Games played: 101

Wolves wins: 35

Liverpool wins: 49

Draws: 17

Who is injured/suspended for Wolves vs Liverpool?

Diogo Joto is the only concern for the home side. The midfielder picked up a hamstring injury in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth and will thus sit this one out.

For the away side, they will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold who is recovering from a foot injury. James Milner could feature should he pass a late fitness test, but Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all out.

Key talking point

Will Wolves be the ones to bring down Liverpool?

Man City tried but failed. Chelsea came close but conceded a late goal. Arsenal could only pull off a draw while both Tottenham and Man United lost against Liverpool. However, could Wolves be the ones to bring them down?

Nuno Espírito Santo's men have fared extremely well since returning to the Premier League. Only Man United stands between them and a top-six spot, with Tottenham being the only big-six side to beat the newly-promoted outfit this term.

Klopp's side has a number of worrisome injuries, but with the festive period upon us, the Reds will not want to slow down now. This should be an interesting tie.
