The Catalans have submited a bid to Bordeaux for the winger's signature at the 11th hour.

Brazilian winger Malcom was subject to a medical and an official unveiling ceremony at AS Roma after the Italian club agreed on a 32 million euro with Bordeaux to secure his signature. All was done between the two clubs and the 21-year-old was reportedly due to arrive in Rome on Monday night to fulfil his part of the deal.

However, Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that the Malcom's flight to Italy has been cancelled after Bordeaux waived authorization for the player to depart. This twist came as a result of a late bid submitted by Barcelona in the late hours of Monday.

Di Marzio claims that Roma's sporting director Monchi is working around the clock to unblock the situation as both Roma and Bordeaux had reached an agreement in principle. Until that is clear, Malcom's medical scheduled for Tuesday morning at the Villa Stuart would have to wait.

It is worth noting that Barcelona, in their quest to beef-up their right-wing, were in full pursuit of Chelsea's Willian. The club, however, had a third bid said to be worth 68 million euros rejected by the Blue who maintain their stance that the player is not for sale.

As a result, they may very much go all-out for Malcom who seems to be on the radar of a lot of top European clubs.
