Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon intends to finish his outstanding career at the club.
Gianluigi Buffon had been convalescing for seven months due to a back injury, but he has marked his return to action with a pledge of loyalty to Juventus.

"The fans love me unconditionally, and I cannot remain insensitive to that," he told SkyItalia. "I hope to continue the rest of my career here at Juventus."

The 2006 World Cup winner, now 32, is still considered by many as unrivaled in his position. That reputation has seen Manchester United, Manchester City and Milan express interest in Buffon in the past.

With his future now decided, Buffon can focus on getting back to the form that regularly saw his name mentioned alongside Real Madrid's Iker Casillas and Chelsea's Petr Cech as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

The highlights of Buffon's career include the Scudetti wins in 2002 and 2003 and the 2006 World Cup.

Juventus paid Parma almost 33 million pounds for Buffon in 2001, a figure that remains the highest transfer fee for a goalkeeper. During his decade of service for Juventus, Buffon has, alongside his undeniable skill, shown distinct equanimity under pressure. He also showed admirable loyalty by accepting to play in Serie B after Juventus were punished for their role in the Calciopoli scandal of 2006.

These qualities have endeared him to the Juventus faithful, and he is perhaps currently the second most popular Juve player after Alessandro Del Piero.
