Top 10 League Cup Third Round matches to watch - Sep 19-20

September 19, 2017 By Michelle Bonsu
LiveSoccerTV.com provides info to catcth the third round of League Cup fixtures, including Man Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and more in action, starting from this Tuesday, Sept 19th.

It's the middle of the week, but that doesn't mean that football stops! Over in Germany and Italy, it's life as normal in the Bundesliga and Serie A, and in England, the Premier League may be on "hiatus" but the League Cup is in full swing.

This time, the third round will be taking place, with many of England's big clubs featuring starting from this Tuesday. Here are the ten biggest fixtures not to miss out on:

Leicester City vs Liverpool - Kick-off times: 11:45 PST/14:45 EST/19:45 BST

This one's especially notable as it pits two Premier League sides against each other. Liverpool are the most decorated sides in this competition, with eight titles, whilst Leicester, who have won it on three occasions, last tasted triumph in 2000.

Bristol City vs Stoke City - Kick-off times: 11:45 PST/14:45 EST/19:45 BST

Stoke's sole and only triumph in this tournament was back in 1972. They come into this match having lost 2-1 to Newcastle United over the weekend.

Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield Town - Kick-off times: 11:45 PST/14:45 EST/19:45 BST

Crystal Palace are bottom of the Premier League. They've yet to win a league match after five games. Will this bad form translate into the League Cup as well, or will this tournament give them some much needed respite?

West Ham United vs Bolton Wanderers - Kick-off times: 11:45 PST/14:45 EST/19:45 BST

West Ham haven't had the best start to the season, but they can put that behind them as they prepare to welcome Bolton in League Cup action on Tuesday evening.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Barnsley - Kick-off times: 12:00 PST/15:00 EST/20:00 BST

After a frustrating draw with Swansea that saw them firing blanks, Mauricio Pochettino will hope to see his side get back up and running as they take on Barnsley in League Cup action on Tuesday evening at their temporary home - Wembley.

Arsenal vs Doncaster Rovers - Kick-off times: 11:45 PST/14:45 EST/19:45 BST

Arsenal last lifted this cup in 1993, although they've finished as runners-up on five occasions, as recently as 2011. The Gunners come into this game having ended their frustrating record at Stamford Bridge by holding Chelsea to a scoreless stalemate and naturally are the heavy favorites against lower-tier side Doncaster Rovers to progress to the next round.

Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest - Kick-off times: 11:45 PST/14:45 EST/19:45 BST

It may surprise some to know that Nottingham Forest have won this tournament four times. That's just one less than Chelsea's five - albeit the Blues' last triumph was in 2015, whilst Nottingham haven't won it since 1990.

Everton vs Sunderland - Kick-off times: 11:45 PST/14:45 EST/19:45 BST

Everton will be hoping to recover after a disasterous week that saw them ship three goals to Serie A side Atalanta in Europa League action and then lose 4-0 to Manchester United last weekend as they take on Sunderland at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening.

Manchester United vs Burton Albion - Kick-off times: 12:00 PST/15:00 EST/20:00 BST

Manchester United are currently the reigning League Cup champs and are flying high at the moment after thrashing Everton 4-0 at the weekend.

West Bromwich Albion vs Manchester City - Kick-off times: 12:00 PST/15:00 EST/20:00 BST

After a 6-0 mauling of Watford over the weekend, Pep Guardiola could ring the changes for City's trip to West Brom in their midweek fixture. The Sky Blues have won two of the last four League Cup titles (2014 and 2016) and overall hae four trophies to their name.
