The Brazilian has handed in a transfer request in order to force a Camp Nou move, but faces obstacles.

Philippe Coutinho’s future at Liverpool remains a hot topic. The Brazilian has handed in a transfer request amid interest from Barcelona, but the Reds are not ready to sell their star player.

The Selecao ace missed the Premier League opening game, highlighting his importance, as Klopp’s men drew 3-3 with Watford. Coutinho will remain on the sidelines for another important game: their Champions League clash with Hoffenheim.

The English giants take on the German outfit in the play-offs, as both teams eye a spot in the coveted competition. Liverpool will have to overcome the Bundesliga side without their Brazilian ace.

This will raise red flags with the Anfield fans. Although the player is suffering from back injury, which is believed to be the main reason for his absence from their Champions League squad, there is belief that Coutinho is faking it in order to force a move.

A move away from Merseyside is what the former Inter Milan man desires. According to Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague, Coutinho is doing “whatever it takes” to join Messi and Suarez at the Blaugrana.

Liverpool’s stance, however, remains the same: Coutinho is not for sale.
