The Chilean ace is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal, leaving fans worried about his future.

The future of Alexis Sanchez is on the minds of several Arsenal fans. The Chilean ace has been a hit for the Gunners since day one, and has been their most influential player this season.

His contract with the north London giants ends in the summer of 2018, meaning Wenger will face the prospect of selling him this summer or risk losing him for nothing should an agreement over a new deal fail.

With that in mind, the recent words of club legend Robert Pires will have Gooners sweating even more over Alexis’ future. According to the Frenchman, the 28-year-old is unsure whether he should sign a new contract.

Pires, who returned to Arsenal as a coach, revealed this to La Tercera (as per Goal). He said: “I asked Alexis last week about his renewal. He told me that he didn’t know, that he only wants to play. He doesn’t know what is going to happen, he just wants to play and enjoy it.”

In Arsenal’s last game, the Chilean scored a stoppage time penalty goal to help Wenger’s boys beat Burnley despite playing with only 10 men. Alexis scored a panenka in the dying minutes to keep Arsenal’s title hopes alive.

“We all know that. All we want is for Alexis to stay at Arsenal. I hope he re-signs because he is a wonderful player, the engine of the car. I hope he stays forever.”
