The former Real Madrid player-cum-manager was speaking during a press briefing after Real Madrid’s training at the Valdebebas. The Spanish giants were banned from signing new players within the next two transfer windows after being found guilty of signing youth players. Their next door neighbours Atletico Madrid were also banned by FIFA for the same offense. However, Los Blancos claimed that they would appeal against the ban and the France legend was optimistic that it will be revoked.
Speaking to journalists, he revealed:
“It seems absurd to me because I have been here all my life with my family and my sons.’’
He added:
“I am a little annoyed, but there are things that are very difficult to accept and that are absurd. Next week it will all be worked out and I am calm. It doesn’t make any sense. It is an error.”
His Atletico Madrid counterpart Diego Simeone also aired his views:
“I won’t waste my energy on this type of situation.’’
“Upon appeal, different things can happen.”
The two Spanish giants have been allowed to sign new players during the current transfer window that closes at the end of January. Thereafter, they will only be allowed to reach deals and buy new players, but cannot field them until after the 2016-2017 season.
